Travis I have a conference in New York on Thursday, and I wish there was an alternative to the three hour flight.
The cast for the next DC Direct animated movie, Justice League: Doom has been announced, and it looks awesome. I haven’t had a chance to see Green Lantern: Emerald Nights, but I can’t think of a better Hal Jordan than Nathan Fillion. I’m really glad that he’s coming back. Reassembling the cast from Justice League Unlimited is also a really good sign. We at Ret-Conned HQ have been really impressed with the direct to DVD animated films that Warner Bros has been releasing and I’m glad to see their doing more. I’m a huge fan of Bruce Timm’s art style, so anything that has been influenced by him looks great in my book.
In 2000, there was a small SciFi horror film called Pitch Black that didn’t get a lot of attention by some, but made Vin Diesel go from “some stupid muscle guy in that car movie” to an actor I track. The Chronicles of Riddick was not a very good sequel, but it had some interesting elements including adding Karl Urban and his bad-ass self. Now they’re working on a third Riddick film, that will return to the darker, more violent R world of Pitch Black. Make fun of me if you want, but I am really looking forward to this movie and even more so now that it’s confirmed that Karl Urban is returning. I know that there’s a good chance that this movie will be horrible, but I’m hold out hope that Riddick comes out of his sophomore slum kicking and screaming for something awesome.
