Mythological

If you haven’t read Wonder Woman #1 yet, go check it out. Before the series gets too far underway, you might want to check up on your mythology.

Back when Kris and I were preparing our speculative list of The New 52 books, we knew that there would be a Wonder Woman book, but we had a big discussion about what type of Wonder Woman book it would be. Kris likes a lot of the older Greg Rucka-era Wonder Woman stories and try as I might, I could never get into Wonder Woman. The Odyssey storyline started out as a way to reinvent Diana and make her interesting in the modern era. It started out with some potential, but quickly lost its way. As things leaked out about the failed Wonder Woman TV pilot and Odyssey got worse, it felt like Creatives had lost their ability to make a Wonder Woman that we were interested in. Kris and I discussed what would be our ideal Wonder Woman and distilled it down to three things:

  1. Strong, independent mindset
  2. A warrior with lots of skill (aka awesome fight scenes)
  3. Greek Myths

So far the new Wonder Woman book seems to embody all three of these things we were looking for. Taking the Greek myths and adding a horror spin on them makes it even more interesting. If the book stays as intriguing as it is, it might become one of my must reads.

More set photos of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman have leaked. I was really hoping for the goggles and hoodie look from the comic costume, but otherwise it doesn’t look that bad. Hathaway is wearing stiletto heels that her stunt double was not in the previously leaked photos. I wonder if that was just an alteration in the costume for stunts or if that means the costume will change over the course of the movie. Stiletto heels make such a loud clicking sound on hard floors, you would think they wouldn’t work well for cat burglary.
