Travis a really big iMac comes in a really big box. When you buy that iMac online, the really big is put inside another really big box. Buy a couple of other things and suddenly you have tons of really big boxes sitting around. What do you do with all of these boxes? Well, it should be pretty obvious.
The Gnome and I had a spontaneous date tonight, which one is wont to do when one’s wife is no longer spending all of her time studying for school. We went and saw Cowboys & Aliens and had a very good time. As The Gnome said when she saw the original trailers way back in the day, the only difference between a SyFy Original Picture and a Summer Blockbuster is the budget.
One of the things I really love about this movie is how quickly it lays everything out in the open for you right there in the title. This movie has Cowboys and this movie had Aliens. If you want Ninjas or Pirates, this is not the movie for you. They are not Cowboy Aliens, that was a movie a couple of years ago, this is Cowboys AND Aliens. Everybody in the movie has very clear motivations for everything they do, including the aliens and the producers, who just want you to have a good time. As long as you don’t expect this movie to be a grand metaphor for our relationship with Mother Earth and how we should all live in harmony, you will have a good time.
Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde and Sam Rockwell are joined by a great cast of character actors that help to bring this side of the Wild West to life. Jon Favreau continues his streak of directing highly enjoyable movies and with Steven Speilberg, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer producing it’s no surprise that the movie came together so well. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend checking it out.
