Size Matters

Travis My new computer came in today and while I’m trying very hard not to gush all over about how awesome it is, I will just say that it is quite awesome and big. Very very big..
As part of San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel released concept art posters showing the assembled Avengers as they start to advertise of the new movie next year. The big “reveal” of the set was the first look at this movie’s version of The Hulk along with its third Bruce Banner version. The big thing that Marvel wants you to understand that makes this Hulk different than the Other Hulks is that the Hulk looks like star Mark Ruffalo. Marvel is making this out to be a Really Big Deal, but it seems kind of stupid as this is not a still from the film, but some concept painting. Of course the concept painting can look like Ruffalo, it can be painted to look however it wants. The real test is having that same complexity in the CGI when the actual movie comes out. Personally, I can’t see much of a resemblance between the Hulk and Ruffalo, but then I’m not sure I trust any artwork that makes Scarlett Johansson look kind of ugly.
Dreamworks has released the third trailer for Fright Night their darker remake of the 1985 horror-comedy staring Chekov and Bullseye in an epic tale of suburban vampirism. Normally, I wouldn’t care about a movie like this nor about its trailer except this is the first trailer that shows the vampire hunter and stage magician Peter Vincent played by David Tennant in his first major role since he regenerated out of Doctor Who. I’m sure Tennant will barely be in the film, but if he steals every scene he is in as easily as he steals the ones from the trailer, it’ll be worth seeing just for that. It’s Star Trek and Doctor Who versus Marvel, so I have a feeling Colin has no chance.
Travis, what’s on your pull list?
- Brightest Day Aftermath: The Search for Swamp Thing #2 - This book continues to apparently invalidate the end of Brightest Day, which is really bizarre. Oh, and in case you were wondering Constantine is still British.
- Gotham City Sirens #25 - I really thought the last issue was a perfect ending for this book, but I guess they really want to completely shatter the relationships between these three anti-heroines before the reboot.
