The Waiting Game

Last week Apple graced the world with MacOS X 10.7 Lion and there was much rejoicing except for in my house as my laptop is old enough that it can’t run Lion. I did the only thing that any rational human being would do and ordered a brand new computer. Now, I wait.

The coolest things that came out of DC’s ComicCon push for The New 52 is all of the artwork they’ve released. Each panel released internal artwork for upcoming comics, which was very cool to see - especially the line art Ret-Conned HQ loves looking at line art. What was even cooler were some of the preliminary sketches of character redesigns. Ret-Conned HQ is a huge fan of Cully Hamner’s artwork, so we were especially pleased to hear how involved he was in the redesign process. If they ever release an art book of Hamner’s character designs along with some of these other early sketches, I would buy it in a heart beat. That would definitely be more interesting than a thousand page book containing all of the #1 issues.

ComicCon also saw the release of the trailer for the second half of Doctor Who Series Six. Not only do we get a Minotaur running through the hotel from The Shining, Weeping Angels, and The Silence, but we also get to see Rory punching Hitler. That’s right, Rory is as cool as Captain America. Heck yeah Centurion!! I loved how the big twist reveal at the mid-season finale was a secret even to the cast until the very last moment. also, I think that Amy Gillan’s idea for a Doctor Who/ST:TNG crossover would be awesome because I could total see Wesley Crusher falling for Amy Pond. YouTube mashup artists, get on that one STAT!
