Hostile Territory

I’ve seen several actors and celebrities who travel a lot propose the question of where to pick up you books on the road. Sometimes it’s just better to wait.

DC has been announcing a line of books a day this week, in preparation for their solicitations being release Monday. Monday was some, hopefully not all, of the Bat-Family books. The biggest announcement in my opinion was Barbara Gordon’s return as Batgirl. I wish I could outright condemn this, but I really do trust Gail Simone to do this with a purpose, and it was barely two years ago that I was hoping this would happen.

There has been no mention of Stephanie Brown or Tim Drake in any of the Bat-Solicitations so far. They, along with Power Girl, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, and Wally West make up my stable of awesome can’t miss comic characters. In fact, only Booster Gold in JLI has been mentioned out of all these characters, and I’m still holding out hope his solo book to continue.

But DC’s shake up hasn’t been all Batman. Tuesday this revealed a new line of Dark books. I’m happy to see Vertigo characters and even Wildstorm’s Voodoo getting books and I’m really happy that Jeff Lemire is writing books layered in the weird and supernatural, rather than dragging Superboy and Smallville through the weird and supernatural.

I figure we have four more days of announcements before the solicitations hit at 5pm (Eastern) on Monday. Let’s see if the fun continues.
