Travis This was a busy weekend filled with belly dance workshops, family reunions, and baptisms but when we heard about the Stargate sale, we considered other plans.
Reviews for Green Lantern were very mixed this weekend. It seems that you either love the film or hate it. Unfortunately, those bad reviews from Friday had a huge impact on Saturday ticket sales. the predicted box office revenues will be softer than expected. This is really disappointing news, especially if it has an impact on future DC movie properties. Green Lantern was supposed to be the first of a new crop of DC movies introducing the movie world to characters other than Batman and Superman. Unfortunately, this is not the best way to get people’s attention. Maybe if they do a Flash movie, it will be better since Flash is a much more human character in a much more down-to-earth setting like the Batman franchise. Unfortunately, I think the same guys who wrote the Green Lantern script were rumored to be working on the Flash script, so I’m not keeping my hopes up.
Lionsgate has released a red band trailer for Conan the Barbarian and it looks bloody and delicious. Without HBO, the Gnome and I have only caught a couple of episodes of A Game of Thrones, where Jason Momoa portrays Khal Drogo, a horse riding barbarian warrior who speaks less than even Conan does. Momoa looked awesome in the part, so we’re expecting great things out of Conan. We’ll definitely be checking it out in August.
