Con Etiquette

This weekend is Comicpalooza, Houston’s very own comic convention. Naturally, we’re going and have been preparing for it so that we don’t have a repeat of last year. We had a lot of fun at last year’s Comicpalooza, which was the first time that the con became really big. We’re expecting to have as much fun this time as we did last time, but we think that it’s going to be a little bit different. Last year the Dealer’s Room was definitely the biggest draw, and where Kris & I spent most of our time, while this year they have quite a number of guests. Nothing else, CP seems better organized than last year, mainly because they have their schedule finalized and online when it wasn’t ready until the con started last year.

Fox really wants you to go see X-Men: First Class. They also want you to understand that XFC is going to be much better than X3 was. They don’t want you to take their word for it, however, so they’re releasing a ton of clip videos for potential viewers to get a taste of the film. I must admit that this big marketing push is working, as they’re definitely making me interested in seeing a film I was disappointed to learn about when first announced.

Travis, what’s on your pull list?

  • Gotham City Sirens #23 - They still haven’t announced that they’re canceling this book, but it really feels like they’re going to wrap this up in the next couple of issues. The momentum of the Harley/Joker arc really got derailed by last month’s Catwoman Azrael tie-in.
  • Daomu #4 - Still pretty and interesting, but I’m not getting emotionally invested in the characters. I’m definitely cooling on this title.

Kris, what’s on your pull list?
