Cultural Anthropology

Travis Kris and I helped The Gnome record data from her Graduate Thesis this weekend. After entering in data from 300 surveys of Band and Orchestra directors, we were able to see some very clear personality types, which we immediately started applying to comic characters. Kris is thinking of starting a second career as a cultural anthropologist to expand on his comic personality classification system. I expect it will be revolutionary.
Now that The Dark Knight Rises has begun filming, you’d expect that the news we’d be hearing about the movie would be more along the lines teaser images like last week’s Bane image. However, we’ve had a huge rash of casting news. It looks like that Nolan is filling out the rest of his Gotham universe. The cast for this production seems a lot larger than the previous Batman films, but maybe that’s just my imagination.
Sad news came out today as Sam Neill has confirmed that there won’t be any more Jurassic Park movies. This is especially sad for me because the first date that The Gnome and I had was to see Jurassic Park III ten years ago (OMG!! Ten years!). It was a pretty bad movie, but a pretty good date. Guess I’ll have to find something else for us to do for our anniversary.
We’re about halfway through the first half of the new Doctor Who season, and it’s been awesome. Doctor Who Series 6 will run for four more episodes before it takes a break for the Summer. In between the Who Halves, we get another season of Torchwood, the darker spinoff show from Doctor Who. This new Torchwood season is partially funded by Starz and will partially take place in the US. They’ve released an awesome looking trailer that includes scenes with some great American SciFi actors, including Bill Pullman, Nana Visitor, and Dichen Lachman. The trailer looked awesome, but it definitely needed more Gwen Cooper.
