Overbirdened

One of the most interesting things to read over the past couple of months is how Damian Wayne, the new Robin, is being integrated into the rest of the DCU. He’s shown up in all the major Bat-books, had a brief stint in Teen Titans, and most recently appeared in the Supergirl arc that concluded last week. We’ve been really enjoying Damian’s travels and are ready for more.

Friday Warner Bros. released a new trailer for Green Lantern. This trailer includes a Geoffrey Rush-voiced Tomar Re relating the history of the Green Lantern Corps and their struggle with Parallax. It’s epic, it’s stately, and it’s by far the best trailer the movie has had. This trailer for the first time made an emotional connection with me. I care about the movie and am interested in what its story is in a way that I haven’t been before. We’re still not sure if the movie is going to be as good as Marvel’s latest comic book outing, but we shall see.

I’ve never had time to dig into a lot of the complex viral marketing and augmented reality marketing games that companies do these days, however I’m always impressed by how complicated and imaginative they are. Warner Bros. made great use of these games for the previous Christopher Nolan Batman movies and now that principal filming of The Dark Knight Rises is underway, the hype machine is starting to spin up. The first thing to drop from that is an image of Tom Hardy as Bane and it looks impressive. While the image is mainly black background, and Bane has is back to us, we can definitely tell that Hardy definitely bulked up properly for the part. I like the Venom mask he’s using and can’t wait to get a closer look at it. Thank you Internet for figuring out these puzzles and then sharing the spoils with someone like me who can’t do it himself.
