Everything's Connected

Travis With recent activities occurring in the tech world, one sees connections everywhere. The PSN hack and how Sony has handled it has completely floored me. If I was Gabe Newell, I’d be pissed about how horribly the PSN failure screwed over the Portal 2 launch. The Steam integration in PSN was going to be the Next Big Thing and all of that work has been completely wasted.
It was announced a while back that the two main villains for Superman: Man of Steel would be General Zod and another Kryptonian from the Phantom Zone named Faora. It looks like the role of Faora will be filled by one Antje Traue. I have not seen her previously American movie, Pandorum, but I’m now very interested in checking it out. I kind of have a thing for German actresses (or actresses from anywhere in the former Soviet Bloc), so I’m definitely intrigued by this casting. Honestly, the movie can be three hours of those eyes just staring at the screen and I’d go see it.
Dark Horse released it’s digital comics initiative along with their iPad app. Unlike most of the other comic houses, Dark Horse decided not to have Comixology create a branded application for them, but created their own custom application. I’ve only played with it briefly, but I think their app is much better over the Comixology app, which does a horrible job of using the iPad’s screen real estate. I’m going to download a couple of their free comics and will have a longer review of it next week.
Travis, what’s on your pull list?
- Xombi #2 - I was going to give this a full arc as a test, but I think I’m giving up after this issue. Usually I’m intrigued by paranormal stories and things that involve super-secret mystical branches of the Catholic Church, but I’m not compelled by this story at all.
Kris, what’s on your pull list?
- Action Comics #900 - This is how you do an anniversary issue. It’s spectacular and engaging.
- Brightest Day #24 - I think Geoff Johns hates relationships. That’s the only reason I can think of for what he is doing to Hawkman. Also, I really don’t care about Swamp Thing or Constantine.
- Detective Comics #876 - I love this book and I really want Snyder to become the permanent writer for Other Batman Batman.
- Flash #11 - Barry Allen came back during Final Crisis, then went through Blackest Night. I feel like an intervention is a little premature. Give the guy time to work some shit out, alright?
- Green Arrow #11 - This book is a mess. It’s telling two stories, Arrow dealing with the fallout of Rise and Fall, and the story of the Star City forest. Both stories have suffered greatly. Remember when Green Arrow had a family?
- Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #9 - Good story, love the twists, but I have no idea where they are going and that scares me.
- Justice League: Generation Lost #24 - This is how you end a series. Everything is resolved, and you are left wanting more. This book went from something I was debating pulling to my first read book every other week, simply with good writing and good art.
- Justice Society #50
- Life With Archie: Married Life #9
- Spider-Girl #6
- Suicide Girls #1 - This book it totally nuts, but I love it.
- Velocity #4 - The incredibly sporadic release schedule hurt this book, but it definitely left me wanting more Velocity.
- Wonder Woman #610
