Ultimate Aquawar

Kris and I were out with a friend when Geoff Johns’ tweet came in:

Announced at Megacon: After BRIGHTEST DAY I’ll be moving over to a new book - AQUAMAN #1 coming later this year!! :)

Suddenly, everything in the room changed. Colors became more vibrant, sounds became sweeter. The dark bar we were sitting in seemed to light up as the whole world changed with the news. Aquaman was back for good and was getting his own book. Hell yeah. The question is though, after Aquaman gets reconstituted into a person from the pile of ashes he currently is, who will he be?

DC also announced this weekend that Amy Adams is Lois Lane. When I first heard the news I was really excited (huzzah!) and then I realized I had no idea who this woman was. I looked up her IMDB page and while she’s done a lot of stuff, and a lot of it very big title stuff, I hadn’t seen any of it until I got to an entry for 2001 and suddenly I knew exactly who she was. She had a guest spot in the Smallville Season 1 episode Craving as the girl who made Kryptonite diet shakes to lose weight and changed her metabolism so much she became a fat vampire just to stay alive. She did a really good job in it and since she’s already familiar with the Superman universe I’m sure she’ll do great as Lois Lane. The only other thing I’ve seen her as was Cousin Beth in is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode called Family. I’ve seen all of Buffy, so I’m sure I’ve seen the episode, but it doesn’t jump out at me. Kris probably can tell me about it in a heartbeat, because he’s got that whole show memorized.

Blastr, which at some point replaced SciFi Wire as the SciFi Channel’s news site - probably around the time that SciFi became SyFy, has an awesome trailer for the Sixth Series of Doctor Who. The new season starts at the end of April and starts with a two-part episode filmed in America followed by an episode written by Neil Gaiman. This season is going to be awesome. I’ve brushed off my bow tie and fez and am ready to go. Hey, don’t laugh. Bow ties are cool.
