I'm a Bug!

We’ve given up any attempt to take James Robinson as a serious writer. Clearly, the guy has very little plan nor cares at all what any other writer is doing. Reign of Doomsday hasn’t been that great of an event, but this week JLA issue was completely unnecessary. If you’ve seen the cover, with Doomsday fighting Cyborg Superman, well, you saw something that didn’t happen in this issue. What did happen in this issue is random characters from other books randomly happen to show up without explanation because Robinson felt it would be necessary. At this point, we think Robinson’s capable of anything.

Yesterday they released the first full trailer for Captain America. If you haven’t seen it, go watch it now. Go on, I’ll wait. That is the trailer I was hoping to see at the Super Bowl. That was an awesome trailer. That is going to be an awesome movie. Still needed more Red Skull, but other than that: Awesome.

The Amazing Spider-man, the reboot of the Spider-man franchise won’t open in theaters until July 3, 2012. It won’t even finish filming until mid=April. However, that’s no excuse to let the grass grow under our feet. At least, that’s what Sony is thinking because they’ve already hired a screen writer to write the script for the sequel. This is in no way news worthy, but I wanted to bring it up just so I could complain about starting to work on sequels of movies before the first movie is even out yet. The movie might not be any good or even worth a sequel, but we can’t let that stop us. It just seems a little ridiculous.

The best-selling, extremely bizarre Image comic Chew is getting turned into a TV pilot for Showtime. The script was originally written by one of the writers for Eureka, a show known for it’s quirky atmosphere, so might potentially be worthwhile. It’s all still really early, but it’ll be interesting to see what comes of this.

Travis, what’s on your pull list?

  • Batman: Streets of Gotham #21 - The final issue of this series shows how Dini’s a great story teller as he wraps everything up into a nice convenient package.
  • Tiny Titans #38 - It’s the underwater issue starring Aqualad, Lagoon Lad and Aquagirl. I’ve got a cucumber!

Kris, what’s on your pull list?
