All is Not Well

Travis Hey look! It’s an awesome comic!
DC solicitations for June should be coming out sometime next week and DC is getting people excited early by announcing more Flashpoint one-shots and mini series. Kris was giddy when he read that Bart Allen, Kid Flash, is getting his own Flashpoint one shot. Not only that, but the one-shot is being written by Sterling Gates, who at one time was associated with the announced, then cancelled, Kid Flash ongoing series. Hopefully this one-shot will either lead directly into an ongoing series or it will do so well that they’ll finally get one. Bart is a really fun character and I think his solo adventure will be a lot of fun.
We were also excited to see that Frankenstein’s getting his own one-shot. You can’t not love Frankenstein’s monster running around being awesome. After his inclusion in the Seven Soldiers of Victory, Frankenstein has pretty much disappeared from the DCU except for his brief appearance in the Superman/Batman Blackest Night tie-in issues starring Man-Bat and Bizarro. Even if this doesn’t turn into a more permanent appearance of the big green lug with neck bolts, I’m sure the book will be a lot of fun.
Flashpoint is not only revamping the current DCU heroes, but also introducing several new ones. We’re starting to get the first glimpses of some of these new “heroes”. First up is The Outsider, who will have his own three part mini-series and apparently doesn’t play well with others. From his logo that was revealed a long time back, Kris and I suspected that The Outsider might be Lex Luthor. Looking at this character, he has the bald head but other than that I suspect he might be a new character. We’ll have to wait and see. Also, we’ve been introduced to The Canterbury Cricket, a giant crime fighting cricket. At this point we’ve had pretty much every other creature in the Animal Kingdom who has been associated with a superhero, it’s only fair that a lowly cricket gets a turn. This one-shot looks like it could be fun.
