Travis I love Science because regardless of how ridiculous an experiment you come up with, there’s a true experiment that occurred that’s even more ridiculous.
Big shock in the comic world today as we learned that Dwayne McDuffie has passed away. McDuffie was a huge contributor and writer for Marvel, DC, and Milestone Media, which he also co-founded. McDuffie was an advocate for racial diversity in comics and his Milestone Media led to the birth of great characters like Static, Icon, and Xombi. McDuffie was also instrumental in the DC Animated universe, where he was a writer for Justice League, Static Shock and Teen Titans as well as extensive work on Cartoon Network’s Ben 10. Most recently, he’s been working on DC’s direct to DVD animated films, including writing for Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and the brand new All-Star Superman that was just released on Tuesday. His impact on the comic world was great and he’ll be missed.
Newsarama had a great interview with Scott Snyder and Kyle Higgins about their upcoming Gates of Gotham. This mini-series will involve Dick Grayson, Owlman (fresh off the end of Outsiders), and I Ching (most recently seen in Tony Daniel’s Batman) while they explore the history of Gotham City and it’s great families. From the little bit that we’ve read, it sounds like it will try to take Daniel’s recent work in Batman, the history exposed in Dini’s House of Hush storyline from Streets of Gotham, and Morrison’s work in Return of Bruce Wayne and reconcile them into a cohesive narrative fabric of the dark city. Sounds very interesting and high on the list of things to look out for in the coming months.
