To the Rescue!

Travis There’s some new superheroes hanging out at DC’s headquarters. Dan Jurgens and Keith Giffen might not be a blockbuster, critically acclaimed creative team, but they’re always guaranteed to give you a fun story. We thought it would be really cool that they were taking over Green Arrow, but for them to leave that and go to Superman instead is even more exciting. The announcement from DC doesn’t state whether this will be a permanent thing or if they will only temporarily be on Superman like their gig on Green Arrow. While I would love for them to stick around on Superman, I think I like the idea of Giffen & Jurgens working as The Fixers jumping into whatever book is currently failing even better.
New York City Comic-Con saw couple of new videos from the DC/Warner Brothers animated collaborations. First up, we get a trailer for the recently announced Justice League: Doom. This is the animated version of the Justice League story “Tower of Babel”. This was also the last DC Animated feature written by Dwayne McDuffie before his death earlier this year. We’ve been really impressed with the direct to DVD movies that DC and Warner Brothers have released, so look forward to this one as well.
DC also released the first minute and a half of the new Green Lantern animated TV show that premieres next month. This is the first DC animated series that will be fully CGI, so it’ll be interesting to see how it does. The art style takes after Bruce Timm’s artwork (as most of the DC animated shows do), which I would expect would translate well in CGI. The first sequence shows a Green Lantern getting ambushed by the Red Lantern Corps, so already I like the direction the series is going.
