Travis Last month DC announced that JT Krul would be leaving Green Arrow to be replaced by Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens for Green Arrow #3. This month, they’ve announced that Ann Nocenti will helm the new book starting at Green Arrow #7. It seems that somebody is hard to work with.
DC has also announced a new writer for Static Shock that will take over on issue 7 in March. Scott McDaniel who is currently doing art for the book will stay on. I haven’t read any of Static Shock, but Kris says that it hasn’t been that great. The biggest problem we’re finding with a lot of the books in The New 52 is that there is no real hook drawing you into the book. Virgil is a really cool character, but without a really engaging story, his 1000 watt smile won’t sell issues. Hopefully the new creative team will fix that, but with the new team not coming on until March they could lose a big audience before then and they might not be able to bring those readers back in.
One of the things I’ve been wanting to do but haven’t had the time is to sit down with all of The New 52 issues and track down all of the appearances of the bizarre hooded woman. Fortunately, I don’t have to worry about it any more because Comic Alliance did it for me. Looking at all of the different scenes she appears in, it’s clear that we’re dealing with somebody of supernatural origin that can’t be seen and can float. The general consensus seems to be that she’s the same hooded woman from Flashpoint #5, but the question is why is she appearing? She could just be checkout out her handiwork as she was the one who brought The New 52 into being, but Comic Alliance suggests that this is a subtle lead up to the first big crossover event of The New 52. They predict it will be 2013 as that will be the 75th anniversary of Superman’s first appearance. Sounds as logical as anything.
