IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND!

Kris And this concludes your Dragon Ball Z joke for the evening. We apologize for any inconvenience.
This past weekend I picked up DC Adventures Handbook at our local game shop. This is a new RPG based of the Mutants and Masterminds System. I’ve only made it part way through the book so far, but I can already tell you I’m excited to try this system out.
The system seem to do a very good job of creating multiple levels of power so you can have a universe which contains everything from Captain Marvel and J’onn J’onzz all the way down Green Arrow and The Question. I think it will be very interesting to create heroes of every level. I only hope I can convince my friends to play a few games instead of our current Serenity game.
I was planning on making tonight the next edition of Comics You Should Read, but I’m going to have put that off until a later date. But I promise I’ll get it out to you as soon as possible.
Travis, what’s on your pull list?
* Gotham City Sirens #15 - I came home after programming for twelve hours straight and wanted to read one good comic book. This was not it.
Kris, what’s on your pull list?
* Action Comics #892 - Really good. I loved the short fight between Luthor and Deathstroke, in which Luthor acknowledges he only stands a chance because of his battlesuit AND Deathstroke being effected by the black energy.
* Batman #702 - While my opinion of Grant Morrison has improved, I still think I lack the ability to hold my breath long enough to get down to where he likes to swim.
* Detective Comics #868 - I love this arc. It feels like a fun escapist story in the vein of The Animated Series.
* Gotham City Sirens #15 - I’m going to make Trav stop pulling this. Because this is a decent book, not as good as it was under Paul Dini, but all he and Tiff can do is complain about it. The story is silly, and the character interaction is basic, but it’s a fun window into the desires of Poison Ivy.
* Green Arrow #3 - This book is doing a good job of creating tension and a living breathing world inside Star City. It’s just doing it very slowly.
* Justice League: Generation Lost #8 - Rocket Red is a great character. I hope he continues to be used after the series ends. In fact, I would love the JLI to get a book after this. All these characters were terribly under utilized and I want that to change.
* Justice League of America #48 - Finally this story is over. It simply drug under its own weight. I happy with Jade’s character development and the new face of the JLA.
* Legion of Super-Heroes #4 - Once again, there is just too many stories going on in this book. The Lightning Lad/Saturn Girl story should have been given it’s own book. And the Earth-Man story should be given more time to simmer.
* Outsiders #32 - This book is a complete oddity to me. I’m not sure Dan DiDio even knows where it’s going. But I like the way he writes the Creeper.
* Superman/Batman #75 - A fun tribute to the World’s Finest.
* Superman: Secret Origins #6 - There is so much I can say about this book. It’s good, great even. But it’s one of those books that needs to be read back to back to get the full impact. Which makes the fact that it took almost a year for the whole thing to come out even more heinous.
* Teen Titans #86 - Better than it has been, but still incredibly weak. Once again, the second feature is the best part.
* Time Masters: Vanishing Point #2 - Dan Jurgens is a great writer and obviously loves Booster Gold and Rip hunter. My biggest fear is that this book will have little impact and simply be forgotten in all the other events that are going on.
* Wonder Woman #602 - I had my doubts as to whether JMS could make Wonder Woman into something new. This issue obliterated most of those doubts. And Wonder Woman’s new costume is 100% better without her jacket.
