Travis The Fourth of July at Ret-Conned HQ has been a pretty nerdy affair. Kris was finally able to come in and so has been busy reading his comics from this week. The Gnome and I have read through the first fifteen weeks of 52, so Kris brought us a refill.
Of the story lines in 52, I’m enjoying the Renee Montoya and the Question story the most. I really like Montoya as the Question and also enjoyed reading the original Question) series. It’s really interesting to see the differences between the two characters, while at the same time seeing the clear influence that Vic Sage had on Renee Montoya. It’s been really great finally getting to see the interactions between the two and the “passing of the torch.”
The weakest storyline for me has been the Adam Strange, Animal Man, and Starfire) Lost in Space story. Kris said that it get better, but I’ve always found Starfire very whiny and annoying. I’ll have to keep reading to see if I agree with him.
Kris what was on your pull list?
* Action Comics #890 - A little odd, but I love the chance to explore Luthor further.
* Batman Beyond #1 - Great, but I hope there is more with Terry’s Rogues Gallery.
* Flash - Captain Boomerang is awesome, and I think there was a subtle hint at what happens in Flash Point.
* Gotham City Sirens #13 - I was not at all impressed by this book. I hope Paul Dini comes back soon.
* Green Lantern #55 - Good Kitty. Add Saint Walker and this book with be excellent.
* Joker’s Asylum II: Clayface - Bad horror story.
* Justice League of America #46 - Don’t worry, even though Starfire is gone, we still have Jade for you whiny ex-girlfriend quotient.
* Justice Society of America #40 - Hey, Obsidian is back! That’s it, nothing else happened.
* Teen Titans - I enjoyed the second feature, but this book is failing to live up to it’s potential.
* Velocity #1 - Hey look! I can buy independent too. Great book, I love me some speedsters.
* Wonder Woman #600 - Seriously, I love him as a writer, but JMS must have good black mail material on Dan Didio to be writing Superman and Wonder Woman.
