A Day at the Office

This comic was written several months ago when I was at my old job, which I did not enjoy and was very happy to leave and more then once wanted to be the guy who smashed up his computer and went running out of the room screaming. While I never did actually do that, I definitely banged my computer mouse against the desk really hard and then stridently marched around the office floor before coming back and working some more, cursing under my breath the whole time. I’m a stress eater and I had never quite realized how stressed that job made me until after I put in my two weeks notice and dropped 10 pounds in the next three days. Granted, I ended up gaining all that weight back to my current dumpy physique.[^1]

[^1]: Really I’d say fat, but then I have the body self-image of a high school cheerleader so of course I would and am really trying to avoid getting griped at by my wife for talking down about myself, again.

It’s dark right now[^2] and it sounds like there is a storm coming in as it’s been lightening for the past hour and we’re starting to hear the thunder. I hope we get a nice rainstorm soon because I always like watching the rain. The dark and the lightening and the thunder were all the perfect backdrop for watching the final episode of the Doctor Who Series 5. I know it ended in Britain sometime last month, but instead of illegally downloading it the Gnome and I have been watching it on iTunes as it slowly trickles into America. While I think David Tennant is still the Gnome’s favorite Doctor, I definitely like what Matt Smith has done with the character. I’m definitely looking forward to next season, because this season was quite incredible. Neil Gaiman’s been talking on his Twitter stream that he wrote an episode that was originally supposed to be for this season and has not gotten pushed back until next season. He doesn’t say anything about it, but it’s definitely adding to the excitement of what’s going to happen next.

I read the JSA: Black Reign trade book this weekend. It was pretty cool and concludes my Black Adam reading after reading 52 and the Dark Age mini series.[^3] Black Adam is a really interesting character and it’s going to be interesting to see if they do something more with him soon. Kris is developing a theory about how the newly resurrected Osiris will be able to bring Black Adam and Isis back from the stone. He thinks Osiris will essentially become the new Captain Marvel and finally get to be the hero that he always wanted to be. Somehow, he still won’t be able to pull it off and this will in the return of Billy Batson. The way that Kris describes it, it’s pretty awesome so DC should just call him in and let him set it all up. We’ll all be the better for it.

Have you read Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour yet? If you haven’t, why are you sitting here reading my nonsense, get out there and go read it! I’ll wait. See? Aren’t you glad you listened to me? Yeah, it’s awesome. I can’t wait for the movie.

Other than my regular weekly pulls, I’m going to be laying off the extra comic reading. I have a big project at work with an impossible deadline, so any free time that I have are probably going to be spent reading technical books. Hopefully it won’t make me go crazy, although Friday my coworkers said I was starting to mumble to myself under my breath. Hopefully it won’t get too bad, it would be a shame if I went running out of the room screaming.

[^3]: Note that I’ve done this backwards and Black Reign should go before 52 and Dark Age in continuity.

[^2]: As is expected to occur after the Sun goes down.
