Summer Love

Travis We’ve been watching news about The Cape since it was first announced and we’re not sure what to think. Summer Glau’s character feels like Lois Lane updated for the Internet era. We’ve also heard rumors of a villain who is a murdering thief with a skin condition that leaves him with scaly skin. Sound familiar?
Since the “hero” of the show is basing his persona off a fictional comic book character, we’re hoping that these are intentional homages to comics and not lazy writing. That the characterizations are based on DC characters is also no surprise since DC is doing the exclusive Comic-Con Cape tie-in cover.
Comic-Con officially gets started on Thursday. We’re looking forward to see what news, if any, comes out if it. DC did drop this absolutely awesome Brightest Day teaser poster this morning right before going silent while they travel. Kris and I have been pouring over it for a while. So far, we can’t find anything representing Maxwell Lord or Zoom, but everybody else that came back at the end of Blackest Night is either present or represented. So far Brightest Day hasn’t blown us away, but we’re hoping that as the story lines start to come together it will pick up speed just like 52 did.
We’ll have information about the Thursday panels on Friday, but most of our “coverage” for Comic Con will probably be next week after we can spend the weekend talking about it and reading in between the lines to bring the greatest insights possible to our loving Ret-Conned readers.
