I also bought a few comics...

I’m finding as my comic collection grows, 1718 issues as of writing this, my desire for comics is increasing, not decreasing. I took a trip to Bedrock both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I had worked 6 hours overtime in the heat, so I thought I deserved a reward for my hard work. I think that’s perfectly legitimate. Sunday’s trip was just because I wanted more comics.

I bought a few issues of Teen Titans I’ve been wanting. They are part of the arc were Marvin Harris is killed, and Wendy Harris is paralyzed. I never had too much interest in this until Wendy started becoming a major player in Batgirl. They are all decent issues, mostly dealing with Wonder Girl and the Teen Titan’s shrinking roster. The best issue of the lot is Teen Titans #62, titled “Who is Wonder Dog?” I won’t spoil anything for you, but if you remember Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog from the old Super-Friends it’s definitely worth a read.

I bought a trade of JSA, from Geoff Johns’s run on the book. It’s “Black Reign” and shows Black Adam taking control of Kahndaq. It’s also Atom Smasher turning away from the JSA, which has repercussions in the current JSA All-Stars run. It was good, I like the way Johns writes the older heroes, especially Hawkman. He writes him as a man only contained by his sense of right and wrong.

Another trade I picked up is DC’s Power Girl trade which contains all of her origins over the years. It starts in ‘75 with her Earth-2 origin, then ‘87 with her new Atlantean origin after Crisis on Infinite Earths, and ends finally with Geoff Johns tying all the Retcons and inconsistencies together leading into Infinite Crisis. Great read and very helpful to a Power Girl fan like myself. Also, it contains the art of Amanda Conner, who is a great artist and draws Power Girl better than anyone I’ve seen.

I bought a few other back issues I haven’t gotten a change to read yet, and I bought the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus Vol 1. I don’t know if I’ll get any more, but this one contains Buffy’s origin based off of Joss’s original script. So it’s bascially the TV show’s version of the movie, in comic form! I’ll try to post a review once I’m finished.

With DC’s October Solicitations coming out today, and all the changes that brings, as well as SDCC coming up this weekend, I think Trav and I will have a lot to talk about. See you soon Ret-Connateers!
