Jackets are just capes with sleeves.

Travis For the record, we both really like Wonder Woman’s new costume. The new look feels more feminine without being exploitative. Kris is actually really impressed that they have shrunken her boob size. There’s a lot of times where I’ve felt that since Wonder Woman is essentially as strong as Superman, she’s drawn very mannish - basically, Superman with boobs, which is not a very appealing look.
I feel the new look modernizes her style while still maintaining the basics that make up Wonder Woman’s costume. She still has the red, white and blue motif. She still has the W logo and the golden eagle. She still has the lasso, gauntlets, belt and tiara. The only thing that’s really missing from her original costume is the star earrings, and most of the drawings of her in Wonder Woman 600 have her hair covering her ears, so maybe she’s actually wearing them and we don’t even know it. What’s new to the costume? She has a jacket and long pants. If you’re not as strong as you were before, you probably get cold easier.
The new story line sounds really interesting. I’ve never been a huge fan of Wonder Woman, because - like Superman - she’s always felt too perfect to me. It’s not that there hasn’t been tragedy or hardship in her stories, but she always seems to stoically be passing through the hardship without it affecting her much. It’s really hard for me to explain, but so far I’m finding the new Wonder Woman concept much more approachable and look forward to reading it more than I have in the past.
The biggest thing that Kris and I are concerned about is how this reboot will affect the rest of the DCU. If Wonder Woman never set out as the ambassador of Themyscira, did she ever meet Superman and Batman? Was she ever a member of the JLA? Did she kill Max Lord? If she didn’t murder Max Lord, then how does that affect Brightest Day and Max Lord coming back to life? How does this alteration affect the alterations that Max Lord has put in place in Generation Lost? How does this affect Donna Troy and Wonder Girl? So far, Jim Lee and J. Michael Straczynski have been very vague about how it impacts the rest of the universe. We’re hoping that means there is some plan that they don’t want to reveal yet that’s more complicated then disconnecting Wonder Woman’s book from the rest of the world. We’ll just have to wait and see.
This is going to be a Special Edition of “What’s on your pull list?” Tuesday night Kris went to see the midnight showing of Twilight Eclipse, while mumbling something about Team Jacob or some craziness that I don’t understand because I’m not a teenage girl. Anyway, that mean he was too tired to get his comics on Wednesday, so hasn’t read said comics to comment on them. Fortunately for you dear readers, your humble narrator took on the arduous task of reading Kris’s comics for him and I will share his (my) thoughts on those comics with you.
Travis, what’s on your pull list?
* Atomic Robo & the Revenge of the Vampire Dimension #4 - The tag line for this issue has been “Meet Atomic Robo’s newest nemesis: his oldest nemesis!”, which meant I should have seen where they were going with this. I didn’t, which made it that much funnier.
* Batman Beyond #1 - I guessed what was going to happen when I first heard about it. I was completely right, which means this series is going to be legendary!
* Gotham City Sirens #13 - If Tony Bedard wrote this story for any other book, it would be good. Compared to any of the Paul Dini scribed issues, it just doesn’t hold up.
Travis, what’s on Kris’s pull list?
* Action Comics #890 - They’ve been previewing this for weeks. The preview seemed so disjointed, we figured it had to be unordered pages from the book. Nope. Those really were the first six pages. Not sure about this one.
* Batman Beyond #1 - Wow! Travis was absolutely right! He’s so cool! He’s my hero!
* Flash - There’s so much awesome in this book that I don’t want to give it away. All I’ll say is that Digger’s inner monologue icon is awesome.
* Gotham City Sirens #13 - No one writes Harley Quinn right except for Paul Dini.
* Green Lantern #55 - Four Words of Awesome: Dex-Starr Origin Story (or does that count as three words?)
* Joker’s Asylum II: Clayface - Travis is awesome! This book is not.
* Justice League of America #46 - Only three pages of banter between Congo Bill and Jesse Quick? WE DEMAND MORE!
* Justice Society of America #40 - For the epic conclusion of the JSA vs Nazis, there sure weren’t a lot of Nazis. I haven’t been a fan of this arc, glad it’s finally over.
* Teen Titans - Blue Beetle’s on the cover but he left this book last issue.
* Velocity #1 - Top Cow does The Flash, but makes him a chick! And a Ginger!!
* Wonder Woman #600 - Black Alice! Misfit!!!!!!!!! Cassandra Cain drawn by Amanda Connor!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, Wonder Woman’s in there, too. Nice jacket.
