He can make me a peg leg!

Convention season is in full force right now, so every week there’s new comic news to talk about.  It’s fun to try and read everything and interpret every little nuanced sound bite hoping to find some new nugget of wisdom about what exciting thing will happen next and when our favorite characters will return.  Kris is pretty happy because they already brought Aquaman back in Blackest Night and Dick Grayson is in the limelight, while hiding in the shadows as Batman, so his favorite characters are covered.  Personally, I’m wanting to know what’s going on with Cassandra Cain and when Misfit will return.  Kris thinks I’m crazy since the characters I always like the most are the D-listers.

One of the Next Big Things we’ve talked about quite often is how the Batscape will change once Bruce Wayne finally comes back.  Unlike Marvel’s “Who Will Wear the Shield?” event giving Cap’s shield to Bucky, there’s no way they can bring Bruce Wayne back and not have him resume the mantle of Batman.  The question then became what would happen to Dick?  The first time we discussed this, Action Comics was in the middle of their Nightwing & Flamebird story, so obviously Dick couldn’t return as Nightwing.  We postulated for a while that maybe they’d both be Batman with Bruce working with Tim and Dick continuing his relationship with Damian.  That just seemed silly, so then we tried to come up with a name for the new identity that Dick could become.  Alas, there’s a reason we write a comic about superhero comics instead of an actual superhero comic.  Of course, that was all before War of the Supermen.  Now that the Kryptonian Nightwing is warden of the Phantom Zone, the name’s open again.  We expect Dick will probably quickly take the Nightwing mantle back up.

Travis, what’s on your pull list?

  • Red Robin #13 - New writer, new story arc, but the same old awesome Tim.  Was that a clue about Cassandra’s whereabouts I saw? Aw yeah!

Kris, what’s on your pull list?
