Only 4 to 8 hours until it gets here.

Travis Kris and I both have Amazon Prime accounts that we use quite heavily. I’ve gotten to the point that I always check whether something is available on Amazon before I plan to go out to buy it. Some could say it means I’m lazy. Others might say that it means I’m antisocial. They might both be true but I really think it’s because I have better things to do with my time then sitting in a car driving from store to store. Kris laughed at me the first time I started buying groceries via Amazon Prime until he discovered the 24-pack ravioli. He doesn’t make fun of me any more. Well, he doesn’t make fun of me about that. Still trying to break the habit other times.
The worst part of having a Prime subscription is you get very spoiled by the two day shipping. On a lark, we ordered a DC Grab Bag from Midtown Comics to see if they actually contained anything good. I placed the order on Monday and am already nervous because I haven’t heard anything from them about shipping info. Kris griped at me because apparently I do this every time I order something from someplace other than Amazon. I can’t help it really, I’ve been trained like one of Pavlov’s dogs for that rush of endorphins upon seeing the words “Out for Delivery” glowing like a beacon generated by millions of electrons rushing to stimulate LCD crystals backlit by a florescent tube.
The Grab Bag is going to be an interesting purchase. We split the cost for it but have yet to fully lay down the ground rules for how we’re going to divide up the spoils. Technically, we should each get 25 of the 50, but that hardly seems fair until we know what exactly the set contains. We decided to go with a DC pack as we’re more familiar with their books and stories and can better judge the quality of the endeavor. If it turns out to be a really good deal, I think we’ll go for an Indie pack as a way to find new and interesting series to read. As a creator, it’s disappointing to see that the Indie packs include more comics for the same price, thereby indicating that their work is of lesser value than their Big Two brethren, but as a consumer I won’t complain about the extra bang for my buck. We’ll have a full report for you once the grab bag arrives, complete with pictures of the comics and the injuries attained while fighting over them.
