I'm Kick-Ass!

The movie adaption of Kick-Ass came out this weekend and I decided it was worth my time to go see it. The biggest problem I found with the movie is that it couldn’t decide it it was going for the surreal “comic book” feel or if it was trying to be a “real world” adaption. I think both these styles are great, but you need to commit to it, like Speed Racer did with it’s live action cartoon feel or Batman Begins/Dark Knight did with it’s gritty real hero. I was impressed by the vulgarity and violence because it actually seemed to fit the tone of the movie, rather than feel gratuitous. There were several kids in the theater I was in and I could see the parents getting nervous just a few minutes into the movie. It it R rated for a reason people.

Overall, I would recommend the movie to comic book/super-hero fans, simply because it’s a good story about one of us answering the call.
