Travis Slimming black outfits and a full face mask only revealing their eyes. What’s not sexy about that?
Hope everybody had a good Christmas, if that’s your cup of tea. It was a very comicky Christmas at Ret-Conned HQ, which meant it was a very good Christmas.
The Gnome was the one who played Comic Santa the most, giving both Kris and I comics. She got me the last three trades of Vertigo’s Lucifer, a series I’ve been wanting to finish for a while. I’m halfway through the ninth volume (the first or the three she gave me) and everything’s already going to Hell. Well, technically we went to Hell a long time ago. Then came back. Now things are worse. Bottom line is that all of Creation is in trouble and I’m really enjoying it.
The Gnome got Kris Power Girl #1, the last issue of the series that Kris needed to collect. Gray/Palmiotti/Conner did a brilliant job bringing PG to life in this series. When they left and the writing duties switch to Judd Winick, we figured there was no way the series could get better. We were wrong; Winick’s story has been fabulous and the artwork by Basri has been top notch. Tiffany also got Kris Nightwing #25, a hard to find early issue of Nightwing with a story of Dick and Tim bonding. Unfortunately, Kris found a copy of this impossible to find issue the same week that we did, so he had already bought it for himself. Now, he has a copy to read and another copy to keep pristine, in case something happens to the first one.
Kris got me an awesome hardback DC Classics Library version of Batman: A Death in the Family, which includes not only the “A Death in the Family” story arc chronicling the death of Jason Todd, but it also has “A Lonely Place for Dying”, which is the story of Tim Drake becoming Robin. Also knowing my love for The Creeper, Kris found a Vertigo mini series about a female version of The Creeper. It was very different than I expected, but The Creeper type insanity with 1920’s Paris and the Surrealist movement as a back drop made quite an awesome read.
Kris also did some Christmas shopping for himself, finding a bunch of really cool Batman Elseworlds stories, including a team-up between Batman & Houdini , when Batman becomes a Green Lantern, and a third that has something to do with the Riddler working with someone to build a crime free zone inside of Gotham. I can’t find a lot of information about it, but it’s name alone - Run, Riddler, Run - really intrigues me.
Did you get any awesome comics for Christmas? If you did, send us an email and tell us about it!
