Man of Steel

Kris wanted today’s comic to honor a special man who will always hold a special place in the hearts of most comic fans. To so many people, Christopher Reeve is Superman, not only because of his portrayal in the movies but in his activism before his accident and his heroic work after it. It always makes us smile to look at any Superman comics drawn by Gary Frank, because when he draws Superman he very obviously draws Christopher Reeve as Superman, which was especially evident in the recent Superman: Secret Origins mini series.

I had hoped to get Superman: The Movie on Netflix to watch in tribute this weekend, but it’s been a busy week and I didn’t get stuff mailed off in time. Don’t tell Kris because he might shun me for this, but I’ve actually never seen the Superman movies. It’s a secret shame that I hope to amend before long.

Kris took advantage of some online sales that Midtown Comics was having and got himself 173 comics for super super cheap. He got another DC Comics grab bag and as well as an Indie comic set. He also got several complete runs, including Supreme Power which he’s quite proud of. It’ll probably take him a while to read through everything he got, but we’ll make sure to have a full report for you once he does.

Travs, what’s on your pull list?

  • Secret Six #26 - There needs to be more Bane in the DCU, because he is an awesome character especially when handled by a competent writer like Gail Simone.
